INATEL Porto Santo is a three-star hotel at Cabeço da Ponta, on the western half of Porto Santo's south coast, run by the INATEL foundation, which operates a network of hotels around Portugal. The national tourism register lists it as a hotel (RNET 3998) with 2 rooms and 34 suites — 36 units for up to 78 guests — and records the Green Key eco-label and a classification audit in November 2025.
Where exactly is it?
The hotel stands on the coast road (Estrada Regional 120), between the Vila Baleira resort and the Vila Baleira Village. In a straight line, Ponta da Calheta is about 2 km away, the golf course about 1.7 km, Vila Baleira's main church about 3.7 km, the airport about 4.4 km and the ferry harbour about 5.6 km. OpenStreetMap shows the Vila Baleira Porto Santo bus stop about 140 m away. Booking.com describes the beach as a 5-minute walk.
What is nearby?
- Porto Santo beach — this western stretch towards Ponta da Calheta is the least built-up part of the shore.
- INATEL's own page suggests Miradouro das Flores, the Casa Colombo museum in Vila Baleira and Pico do Castelo as nearby sights; see the Porto Santo region guide and the Porto Santo travel guide for how to combine them.
What does the hotel offer?
INATEL's page lists a bar, a restaurant, a seasonal outdoor pool with an amphibious chair for guests with reduced mobility, a games room, a gym, a children's playground, a meeting room, family rooms and private parking; one room is adapted for reduced mobility. Booking.com adds that rooms are air-conditioned with a balcony, a work desk, a seating area and a private bathroom, and that the restaurant serves local and international cuisine. Wi-Fi is free.
Practical notes
Booking.com lists check-in from 17:00 — later than most hotels on the island — and check-out by 12:00. INATEL's page gives the hotel's GPS position and phone number for direct contact.
