Vila Baleira Village is an apartment hotel run by the Vila Baleira Hotels & Resorts group at Cabeço da Ponta, towards the south-western end of Porto Santo. The national tourism register lists it as a hotel-apartamento (RNET 6526) with 32 apartments, 16 rooms and 1 suite — 49 units in total. Its Booking.com page carries the title Adults Only, and the listing's web address still uses the property's former name, Pestana Ilha Dourada.
Where exactly is it?
The Village sits on Rua Ponta dos Zambujeiros, a little inland from the coast road, in gardens set back from the beach; Booking.com puts the sand at less than 1 km. In a straight line, Ponta da Calheta is about 1.7 km away, the golf course about 1.7 km, Vila Baleira's main church about 4 km, the airport about 4.6 km and the ferry harbour about 6 km. OpenStreetMap shows a bus stop on Rua da Ponta about 240 m away.
What is nearby?
- Porto Santo beach — the western stretch towards Ponta da Calheta, the quietest end of the 9 km of sand.
- The group's larger Vila Baleira Porto Santo resort and the INATEL hotel are a few hundred metres east.
- For Pico do Castelo, the viewpoints and the town, see the Porto Santo region guide and the Porto Santo travel guide.
What are the units like?
The official site lists three types: one-bedroom villas, Deluxe Twin Sea View rooms and a Sea View Suite. Only the villas have a kitchenette, equipped with an oven, dishwasher, microwave, induction hob, mini-fridge and coffee maker. Booking.com lists air conditioning, a minibar, a TV and a balcony or terrace in the units, plus a year-round outdoor pool, a lift, a bar and free private parking.
Where do you eat?
The on-site restaurant is Ortus. The official site gives breakfast from 07:00 to 10:30 and lunch and snacks from 12:00 to 15:00, and notes that hours may change; it lists no dinner service, so plan evenings at the group's nearby resort or in Vila Baleira.
Practical notes
Booking.com lists check-in from 15:00 and check-out by 12:00.
