Quinta Jardins do Lago is a 40-room hotel in a historic house surrounded by botanical gardens, in the parish of São Pedro on the hills above central Funchal. It is registered in Portugal's tourism registry as a Quinta da Madeira (RNET 3860), the category for the island's traditional manor-house estates. As a base it keeps you 2.9 km by road from the old town while sleeping away from the traffic of the waterfront.
